Configuration

Updates

CardTray updates itself in the background. There is never a reason to re-download the installer.

It checks a few seconds after it starts and then every six hours, and downloads any new version in the background. When a download finishes, CardTray restarts itself to install it. Your game is saved on every move, so it is waiting exactly where you left it after the restart. (If the previous update failed to install, CardTray waits and installs when you next quit instead.)

  • Update channel — Stable or Beta. Beta receives releases earlier, with more risk.
  • Check for updates — Check now checks for a newer version. The hint line shows the current state — Up to date., the download's progress, or an error. Once an update has downloaded, the button becomes Restart to update.

The sidebar footer shows the same progress, and Update ready — Restart to update once it is ready. Check for updates… on the tray menu does the same check.

When a game's rules change

When the rules of a game are corrected in an update, games of it that were saved or finished under the earlier rules can no longer be continued or replayed move by move — they show as Locked. You can always deal the same cards again. See Locked replays.
