Themes

A theme is a matched set: a card deck, the tabletop it was designed on, and its own sounds. Themes in the sidebar is a showroom for them.

There are five: Classic (engraved court cards on green felt), Art Deco (1920s geometric courts on black lacquer), Dune (cinematic full-bleed courts on desert sand), Medieval (illuminated miniatures on dark oak) and Minimal (flat four-color cards on charcoal, made for readability).

Previewing and applying a theme

• Click a theme in All themes to show it large, with its cards fanned on its own table.
• Under Sounds, press Shuffle, Draw, Play card, Flip, Invalid move or Win to hear each one. Ambience plays the theme's looping background soundscape until you press it again or leave the screen. Previews follow your volume even when sound effects are muted.
• Use this theme applies the deck and the table to every board — the Game Gallery, the Daily Challenge, replays and solutions. The theme in use is marked In use.

Mixing your own

You can pair any deck with any table. Use Options in the pause menu, or Card deck and Table in Settings → Utilities → Game Gallery (see Settings). There are six decks — the five theme decks plus Original, the default — and the tables include Green felt, Walnut, Navy leather, each theme's own table, and a set of patterns. Ambience comes from the theme the deck belongs to, so the Original deck has none.

Themes and previews work whether or not bandwidth sharing is on.

What usually goes wrong

If there is no ambience: it comes from a theme deck — the Original deck has none, and the pause menu reads (not in this deck). Check Sound effects, Ambience and the volume slider in the pause menu, or in Settings → Utilities → Game Gallery.
