How to Play Quadruple Canfield Solitaire

Canfield played with four decks: the first foundation card sets a random base rank shared by all 16 foundations, and you get unlimited redeals for more chances to win. The goal: Move all 208 cards to the 16 foundation piles.

Setup

1. Deal one card to the first foundation pile; its rank becomes the base rank that all 16 foundations use.
2. Place 39 remaining cards in a reserve pile, face down except the top card.
3. Deal one card to each of 8 tableau piles.
4. Place the final 160 cards in the stock.

How to play

• Build foundations upward in suit from the chosen base rank, wrapping past King back around to Ace until each pile holds all 13 ranks.
• Build tableau piles downward in alternating colors (red on black, black on red).
• Move sequences of cards together to the tableau when the bottom card fits the color rule.
• Any card can fill an empty tableau pile; if a tableau pile empties, the top card from the reserve automatically slides in to fill it.
• Play the top card from the reserve to either a foundation or tableau.
• Click the stock to deal 3 cards at a time to the waste pile.
• When the stock is empty, click it again to turn the waste over as a new stock. You can redeal as many times as you like.
• Cards automatically move to the foundations once no other card could be built on them (you can change this behavior in Settings).

How to win

Objective: Move all 208 cards to the 16 foundation piles.

You win when all cards reach the foundations. The unlimited redeals give you plenty of chances.

Tips

• Save reserve cards for when you really need them—they're your only inflexible plays.
• Keep tableau piles short to expose buried cards faster.
• Build sequences in the tableau before moving them to foundations.
