Canfield
How to Play Double Signora Solitaire

A four-deck variant where the base rank is chosen randomly each game and you build by opposite color. A large reserve pile feeds your moves while you work through the stock.
Setup
- The base rank is chosen randomly and revealed by the card dealt into the first foundation pile at the start of the deal
- All sixteen foundation piles start with a card of that same base rank; each builds up in opposite color (red on black, black on red) and wraps around (King continues to Ace)
- A reserve pile contains 21 face-up cards; only the top card is playable
- Eleven tableau piles are dealt one card each, all face-up
- A stock pile holds remaining cards; click it to deal one at a time to the waste pile
How to play
- Deal from the stock by clicking it; only one pass through is allowed, so plan carefully
- Move cards from the tableau, waste, or reserve to foundations or tableau piles
- Build in the tableau by moving down one rank in opposite color (move a red 6 onto a black 7, or vice versa)
- Only the top card of each tableau pile can move; when a tableau pile becomes empty, it automatically refills with the top card from the waste, or the stock if the waste is empty
- The reserve top card can go to foundations or tableau
How to win
Objective: Move all 208 cards to the 16 foundations, building by opposite color from the chosen base rank (wrapping around through the full cycle).
All 208 cards reach the 16 foundations. You're stuck if cards remain but no moves are possible.
Tips
- Note that building is by opposite color, not suit—this is different from many solitaire games
- The reserve is your working stock—use it strategically since you can't replay the stock pile
- Create empty tableau spaces to build sequences; even with just one pass through the stock, good placement opens many options
