How to Play Triple Left Solitaire

3 min read
The opening deal of Triple Left Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

A challenging variant of Moving Left where you work with 12 tableau piles and must complete the game with just one pass through the stock. Every decision matters since you can't redeal.

Setup

  1. Twelve tableau piles receive 1, 2, 3, and so on up to 12 cards (the pyramid deal), with only the top card face-up
  2. Twelve foundation piles (three for each suit) start empty
  3. The stock has one pass only—no redeals allowed

How to play

  • Look for Aces to start your foundation piles
  • On the tableau, place cards one rank lower in the opposite color (a red 6 on a black 7)
  • Move complete runs of face-up cards together when properly ordered
  • When you empty a tableau pile, it's automatically refilled with the playable run from the pile to its right
  • Play cards from the waste and tableau to the foundations in suit order; matching cards move automatically when no other move is possible
  • Click the stock to deal one card; you have only one pass through the deck
  • Empty tableau piles can hold only a King or a run starting with a King

How to win

Objective: Move every card to the foundations, building up from Ace in each suit.

You win when all 156 cards are built into the foundations. You're stuck when the stock is exhausted and no more moves are available.

Tips

  • Plan carefully before making moves—there are no redeals, so blocking a key card ends your game
  • Try to expose large piles early by moving visible cards to foundations
  • When choosing between moves, prioritize ones that uncover deeply buried cards

  • Unlimited — Unlimited gives you as many passes through the stock as you need: once it's empty, just turn the waste back over and keep going while you build up eight foundations across two decks.
  • Westcliff — A moderately easy solitaire game where you work with a large tableau of ten piles and a single deck.
  • Agnes Sorel — Similar to Agnes Bernauer but designed more like Spider: the random base rank starts the foundations, and tableau piles build in the same suit color instead of alternating colors.
  • Alternations — Alternations uses two decks across eight foundation piles and a 7x7 tableau where every other card in each pile is face-down.
  • Brazilian — A two-deck variant where cards are dealt to the tableau in a pyramid pattern instead of a waste pile, offering more control and visibility over future plays.
