Pairing
How to Play Tens Out Solitaire

A streamlined matching game where you eliminate pairs of cards that total 10 or pairs of face cards (10s, Jacks, Queens, Kings). Speed and pattern recognition determine success.
Setup
- Deal all 52 cards across 12 tableau piles
- Arrange them face-up so you can see which cards are uncovered
- No stock pile is available
How to play
- Identify pairs of uncovered cards that add up to 10: 9+A, 8+2, 7+3, 6+4, 5+5
- You can also match pairs of face cards—two Tens, two Jacks, two Queens, or two Kings
- Drag one card onto its partner to remove both to the discard pile
- Empty piles stay empty; you cannot refill them
- Continue until all cards are gone or no pairs remain
How to win
Objective: Clear every card from the tableau by removing pairs that total 10 (Ace = 1) or matching pairs of Tens, Jacks, Queens, or Kings.
All 52 cards are removed. You fail when only unpaired cards remain.
Tips
- Look ahead to plan which pairs to remove first—some choices free up more options
- Match face-card pairs when you spot them; they're easier to spot than sum-pairs
- Use pairs that uncover high-value cards buried in lower piles
