How to Play Juvenile Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Juvenile Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

Clear the board by pairing cards that total 14 (Ace=1, numbered cards face value, face cards 11–13). This two-deck game spreads 104 cards across 17 piles where only top cards are available.

Setup

  1. One tableau pile holds 8 cards, all face up
  2. Sixteen other tableau piles hold 6 cards each, all face up

How to play

  • Identify pairs that sum to 14 (Ace + King, 2 + Queen, 3 + Jack, 4 + 10, 5 + 9, 6 + 8, 7 + 7)
  • Drag one uncovered card onto its partner to remove the pair
  • Only the top card of each pile is available to play
  • Removed pairs go to the discard pile and do not create fillable spaces
  • Plan your moves carefully—blocking important cards will stop your progress

How to win

Objective: Remove all cards by pairing cards that sum to 14.

Remove all 104 cards as matched pairs. You're stuck if only single, unpaired cards remain visible.

Tips

  • Look ahead for blocking situations before removing pairs
  • Focus on uncovering cards needed for future pairings
  • Success depends on both card order and planning
