How to Play Queenie Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Queenie Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

Queenie mixes alternating-color tableau building with the freedom to move cards out of strict order, and a stock that deals a card onto every pile at once. You only get one pass through the stock, so make it count.

Setup

  1. Deal 1 card to the first tableau pile, 2 to the second, 3 to the third, and so on through 7 piles (all face up).
  2. Place the remaining 24 cards in the stock.

How to play

  • Build foundations upward in suit from Ace through King.
  • Build tableau piles downward in alternating colors (red on black, black on red).
  • Any group of face-up cards can move together, even non-sequential groups—only the card at the bottom of the group must fit the destination.
  • Only Kings or groups with a King at the bottom fill empty tableau piles.
  • Click the stock to deal one card to each tableau pile.
  • You get only one pass through the stock, so use it wisely.
  • Cards automatically move to the foundations once no other card could be built on them (you can change this behavior in Settings).

How to win

Objective: Move all 52 cards to the 4 foundation piles.

You win when all cards are on the foundations. With just one deal, successful games require careful timing.

Tips

  • Move non-sequential groups to unblock cards or create workspace, rather than always building clean sequences.
  • Save dealing for when you're truly stuck, since you only get one pass.
  • Empty a tableau pile early as a buffer space for strategic moves.
