How to Play Milligan Yukon Solitaire

3 min read
The opening deal of Milligan Yukon Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

This double-deck game blends two classic mechanics: a triangular deal like Yukon and flexible tableau moves that let you shift any stack of face-up cards at once, not just neat sequences. The goal: Build all 104 cards onto eight foundation piles in suit from Ace to King.

Setup

  1. Two standard decks are shuffled together (104 cards total).
  2. Eight foundation piles are placed in a row to collect cards by suit.
  3. Eight tableau piles are created: the first gets 1 card, the second gets 2 cards, and so on up to 8 cards per pile.
  4. All tableau cards are dealt face down except the top card of each pile, which is face up.

How to play

  • Move cards from the tableau to the foundations, building up in suit from Ace to King.
  • In the tableau, build down by rank with opposite colors (a red 7 goes on a black 8, for example).
  • You can move any group of face-up cards together, even if they're not in order—only the bottom card needs to fit on its destination.
  • Fill empty tableau piles only with Kings or sequences starting with Kings.
  • Click the stock to deal one card onto each tableau pile. You get one pass through the deck only.
  • When a card no longer fits in the tableau, it moves to the foundations automatically (you can adjust this in Settings).

How to win

Objective: Build all 104 cards onto eight foundation piles in suit from Ace to King.

You win when all cards are built onto the eight foundations. You're stuck when no more cards can move and you've dealt through the stock.

Tips

  • Expose face-down cards by moving sequences to create new options.
  • Create empty tableau piles strategically when you have Kings available, since only Kings can fill them.
  • Plan ahead before each stock deal, since you only get one pass through the deck.
