How to Play Lady Palk Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Lady Palk Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

A two-deck Klondike-style game where you build foundations in suit while arranging tableau columns. The key constraint is that only Kings can fill empty spaces, making space management crucial.

Setup

  1. Shuffle two 52-card decks together and deal 4 cards face up into each of 8 tableau piles (32 cards total)
  2. Set up eight foundation piles for the Aces
  3. The remaining 72 cards form the stock

How to play

  • Click the stock to draw one card at a time to the waste pile
  • Build the foundations up from Ace to King in matching suits
  • Cards move automatically to the foundations when they can no longer be built on the tableau
  • In the tableau, build down one rank at any suit (so a 5 of any suit can go on a 6 of any suit)
  • Move multiple cards together as a descending sequence in any suit
  • Empty tableau piles accept only Kings
  • Play only the top waste card to foundations or tableau; you get one pass through the stock

How to win

Objective: Move all 104 cards to the eight foundations, building from Ace to King in each suit.

You win when all eight foundations are complete with all 13 ranks in each suit. You're stuck when the stock is empty and no more legal moves exist.

Tips

  • Guard your empty spaces—only use them for Kings or to unlock important cards
  • Look for sequences that will free up low cards for foundation building
  • Plan King placements carefully since they're the only cards that can fill spaces
