How to Play Eliminator Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Eliminator Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

A Golf-style challenge with six foundation piles that build up or down regardless of suit, wrapping from King to Ace. Clear four packed tableau piles onto them one card at a time.

Setup

  1. Deal all 52 cards evenly across 4 tableau piles (13 cards each), all face up
  2. Set up 6 empty foundation piles, ready for play

How to play

  • Start each foundation pile with any card, then build up or down by one rank regardless of suit
  • Kings and Aces wrap around: a King can go on an Ace and an Ace can go on a King
  • Move only the top (exposed) card from each tableau pile onto a foundation
  • Matching cards move to the foundations automatically when they can't be built on the tableau
  • Tableau cards can only move to foundations, not onto each other, so pick your foundation carefully

How to win

Objective: Move all cards from the tableau to the six foundations.

You win when all 52 cards are on the six foundations. You're stuck when no more cards can be moved to the foundations.

Tips

  • Watch for natural sequences like A-2-3 that you can complete together on one foundation
  • Take advantage of the wraparound rule to keep foundations flexible
  • Expose buried tableau cards by clearing the cards above them onto foundations
