Forty Thieves
How to Play Famous Fifty Solitaire

A challenging two-deck variant of Forty Thieves where you build foundations in suit and tableau sequences in the same suit, with flexible tableau spaces. The goal: Move all 104 cards to the eight foundations by building up in suit from Ace to King.
Setup
- Eight foundation piles (one per suit, two decks) starting with Aces
- Ten tableau piles, each dealt five cards face up
- One stock pile dealing one card at a time to the waste
How to play
- Build foundations up in the same suit, one rank at a time (Ace through King)
- In the tableau, build down by one rank in the same suit (e.g., a 6♠ goes on a 7♠)
- Only the top card of a tableau pile can move
- Empty tableau spaces can accept any single card
- Click the stock to deal one card to the waste pile; no redeal is allowed
- Cards automatically move to the foundations once they can no longer be built elsewhere in the tableau (you can change this in Settings to always move or never move automatically)
How to win
Objective: Move all 104 cards to the eight foundations by building up in suit from Ace to King.
You win when all 104 cards are built on the foundations. You lose if no more moves exist and cards remain in the tableau.
Tips
- Create empty tableau spaces early to maximize your options
- Work on exposing Aces and low cards from the tableau
- Plan sequences carefully since you cannot cycle through the stock twice
