How to Play Double Limited Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Double Limited Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

This big four-deck challenge spreads 208 cards over 16 tableau piles and 16 foundations, with same-suit building throughout and only the top card of each tableau pile ever movable. The goal: Move all 208 cards to the 16 foundations

Setup

  1. Sixteen foundation piles wait empty for Aces, four for each suit across the four decks
  2. Sixteen tableau piles each start with 3 face-up cards
  3. The rest of the cards form the stock, ready for a single pass to the waste

How to play

  • Build each foundation up from Ace to King in the same suit
  • Cards move to the foundations automatically once they can't be built anywhere else; you can change this behavior in Settings
  • In the tableau, build downward by one rank in the same suit only (K♠ on Q♠, Q♠ on J♠, and so on)
  • Only the top card of each tableau pile can be moved
  • Click the stock to deal one card at a time to the waste, and play its top card if it fits; otherwise it stays there, possibly covering the cards below
  • Empty tableau spaces can be filled with any card
  • The top card of a foundation pile can be moved back into play if you need it

How to win

Objective: Move all 208 cards to the 16 foundations

You win when all cards reach the foundations. With one pass through the stock, planning is essential.

Tips

  • Look ahead several moves—moving cards to the waste can block future options
  • Create empty spaces strategically to access cards buried under three deep
  • Focus on building same-suit sequences in the tableau before sending to foundations
