Foundations
How to Play Caprice Solitaire

An unusual two-deck game where you build two sets of foundation piles simultaneously—four ascending (Ace to King) and four descending (King to Ace), all within their respective suits. The stock deals directly to the tableau, adding an extra challenge.
Setup
- Shuffle two standard decks together
- Deal four Aces, one of each suit, to start the ascending foundation piles (they'll build upward)
- Deal four Kings, one of each suit, to start the descending foundation piles (they'll build downward)
- Deal one card face up to each of 12 tableau piles
- Remaining cards form the stock
How to play
- Build the Ace foundations upward by rank in the same suit (A♥ → 2♥ → 3♥, etc.)
- Build the King foundations downward by rank in the same suit (K♦ → Q♦ → J♦, etc.). Ranks wrap: King continues to Ace.
- In the tableau, build either up or down by rank in the same suit (like 7♠ → 8♠ or 7♠ → 6♠). Only the top card of each pile is playable.
- When a tableau pile empties, it automatically refills with the next card from the stock, giving you fresh maneuvering room
- Click the stock to deal one card onto each tableau pile
- Once the stock is empty, you're done. There's no redeal.
- Cards automatically move to the foundations once no other card can be built on them. You can turn this off in Settings if you prefer to move them manually.
How to win
Objective: Build all eight foundation piles complete to win
You win when all 104 cards reach the foundation piles. You're stuck when the stock is empty and no moves remain.
Tips
- Plan which foundation each card should eventually reach before committing moves
- Use the flexibility of building both up and down in the tableau to manage the flow of cards
- Work on creating empty tableau piles to maximize your options before the stock runs out
