How to Play Acquaintance Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Acquaintance Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

A straightforward solitaire where you move cards from four reserve piles directly to four Ace foundations, working through the stock and redealing up to twice to uncover new plays. The goal: Move every card from the reserve piles to the four Ace foundations.

Setup

  1. Four Ace foundations (base cards dealt at start)
  2. Four reserve piles (one card each, top card playable)
  3. A stock pile

How to play

  • Build the four foundations upward from Ace to King in any suit
  • Click the stock to deal one card onto each reserve pile
  • Play top cards from reserve piles to the foundations
  • Reserve piles cannot be filled when they become empty
  • When the stock is empty, you can redeal up to two times: the reserve cards are picked up (unshuffled) and turned into a new stock

How to win

Objective: Move every card from the reserve piles to the four Ace foundations.

You win when all 52 cards are on the foundations. You're stuck once the stock is empty, both redeals are used, and cards still remain in the reserves.

Tips

  • Watch which cards are blocked under reserves since they may not come out
  • Since foundations accept any suit, focus on tracking rank rather than suit
  • Use your two redeals strategically to recover from blocked positions
