How to Play Blockade Solitaire

2 min read
The opening deal of Blockade Solitaire, laid out on a green felt table.

A two-deck game where the stock automatically deals to each tableau pile in turn, building on the table by suit before sending cards to the foundations. The goal: Move all 104 cards to the eight foundations to win.

Setup

  1. Deal 1 card face up to each of 12 tableau piles
  2. The remaining 92 cards form the stock, which deals one card at a time to each tableau pile
  3. Eight foundation piles start empty, one for each suit (two decks)

How to play

  • Build each foundation up by suit from Ace to King
  • On the tableau, build downward by suit and move card runs together (10♠ through 6♠ can move as a group to J♠)
  • Click the stock to deal one card onto each tableau pile in turn
  • When you empty a tableau pile, it is immediately refilled with the top card from the stock
  • Only the top card of a pile (or the top card of a run) can go to the foundations, which only accept single cards
  • Eligible cards move to the foundations on their own once no other card could be played on them; you can change this behavior in Settings if you prefer

How to win

Objective: Move all 104 cards to the eight foundations to win.

You win when all 104 cards reach the foundations. The game ends when no more moves are possible.

Tips

  • Plan your tableau sequences carefully; long runs can unlock buried cards
  • Empty piles are less valuable here than in other games since cards come in from the stock
  • Work steadily through the stock to find new playing opportunities
